Testing is an important part of teaching. Students are required to take many quizzes and tests on the information that their teachers have taught, and they are also required to take standardized tests. College-bound students must take additional tests as well. I included a “testing” chapter in this book because, historically, African American students have had lower average standardized test scores than many of their nonblack peers.
