Healing into the Future: Re-Creating the Profession of Nursing Through Inner Work
The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the importance of therapeutic inner work for professional development. Intrapersonal inner work supports personal growth that in turn is manifested in outer work of social relevance. Service to others is enhanced when we ourselves are whole. As members of the nursing profession each of us is accountable for the inner work required to renew and re-create ourselves as we seek wholeness and healing. One way to seek wholeness is to explore the impact and influence that symbols, archetypes, and shadows play in our self and interpersonal relations.
