McDonaldization: The new “American menace”

McDonald's, fast-food restaurants and the process of McDonaldization are all largely, if not exclusively, American phenomena, at least in terms of their origin. The export of these interrelated phenomena can therefore be viewed as an example of Americanization. In this way, we can link the process of McDonaldization to that of Americanization.1 While such a linkage exists, it is by no means a simple one.
