When we plan a lesson we quite understandably become very focused on classroom activities. We commonly ask ourselves two questions:

  • What will the pupils (and teacher) do?
  • How will I fill the hour with productive activities?

Before we rush into answering these questions it is important to take a step back and consciously refocus, to ask:

  • What do we want to achieve? (Aims)
  • What will they learn? (Learning objectives)
  • How will I know what they have learned? (Learning outcomes)
