Who owns celebrity? Who has the right to circulate and profit from celebrity images and stories? The aim of this chapter is to explore celebrity through the issue of intellectual property rights. Intellectual property refers to the creations of ‘the intellect’ that have commercial value. For celebrities this includes copyrighted artistic works but also symbols, names and the use of their images.
