4.1 Introduction

This chapter uses a number of theoretical lenses to sociologically explore the interconnection between sport, physical education and processes of socialisation. Through the theories and evidence presented in the previous chapters, it should now be understood that modern society is produced and reproduced through people’s actions, which are structured through their existence within social institutions such as sport. These social institutions promote the norms and values of the overarching society.
