The next section in the steps for developing a proactive approach to schoolwide discipline is the data management system. It has been heartening to see over the past several years that schools are paying more attention to collecting data to monitor various aspects of student performance such as academic achievement, graduation rates, attendance, and office discipline referrals. Moreover, since 2000, schools and school districts have made substantial advances in disaggregating data, that is, breaking down the data into smaller units or defined subgroups.
