Public schools vary considerably in many ways, such as size, funding levels, age groups served, demographics, cultural factors, socioeconomic factors, and ethnic and cultural diversity. A school discipline plan needs to be sensitive to these factors. In this section, while we describe the specific content components of a proactive schoolwide discipline plan, we strongly encourage each school or district to adapt the suggested procedures within these components to meet their [Page 34]unique needs.
