We organized this book into 7 steps to provide educators with guidelines, procedures, strategies, and examples for developing, implementing, and sustaining a proactive schoolwide discipline plan. Successful implementation of these 7 steps, however, is dependent upon adherence to a number of critical guiding principles.
Since the publication of the first edition of this book, the importance of careful and systematic implementation of evidence-based practices has been emphasized as much as, if not more than, the practices themselves (Fixsen, Naoom, Blasé, Friedman, & Wallace, 2005).
