Introduction
A review of existing policies (i.e., truancy, possession of illegal substances, and involvement in physical fights) should be examined by the incoming social worker in the school. Agency policies such as crisis and trauma plans need to be incorporated into the school's policies if they do not exist. Instruction on the development of policy is described and a plan to address its implementation is highlighted. Several examples of school policies are given. A discussion of informal versus formal policies is reviewed.
