This chapter has three sections. In the first we trace some features of BPS's recent development. In the second, beginning with a reconsideration of how Chandler reconstructed the field, we examine deeper reasons for the present variety of views. In the final section we evaluate some of the recent progress towards the three-dimensional framework of a dynamic theory of organizational strategy.
