This chapter will consider, in three sections, how educators might demonstrate their respect for young children through their observations and assessments. First, I will use some stories about children and their parents to discuss aspects of observation. Secondly, I focus on assessment, what it might mean and issues leading to the notion of respectful assessment. Finally, I conclude with some ideas that educators may wish to consider if they are further to respect children's achievements.
