Popular theater and street theater are a further type of radical communication that we must include in this tapestry of rebellious cultural expression. Their medium, ultimately, is once again public speech and the body, as in dance, but sometimes with stage effects added. They have as long or longer an alternative history as any of the other media forms examined here, and they also have important linkages with radical radio and video. Performance art and culture-jamming are some of their offshoots. At the same time, we will see how varied, in some instances, are the levels of political opposition expressed (e.g., anti-Vietnam War theater) and begin to address organizational problems ...
