Some commentators, particularly in the West, are arguing that we are living in the ‘post-truth’ age. The Oxford Dictionary1 describes it as an ‘era of post-truth politics, where it's easy to cherry-pick data and come to whatever conclusion you desire’. Meanwhile, the Cambridge Dictionary2 describes it as ‘relating to a situation in which people are more likely to accept an argument based on their emotions and beliefs, rather than one based on facts’.
