One of the major aims of adults working with young children is effective and sensitive interaction. This arises spontaneously to match particular occasions and also takes place over longer periods of time. However good and extensive provision for learning may be, however effectively each day is organised, however informed the ‘curriculum’, interpersonal relations are of prime importance. Being in tune with children's thoughts and feelings is essential for maximum development in all areas of learning and at all developmental sequences.
