The group of middle-aged adults between the ages of roughly 40 and 65 years gains growing interest from the public and scientists alike because it currently represents one of the largest age groups in Europe and the United States. A better understanding of midlife cognitive development and related factors might become increasingly important as these cohorts reach old age, and cognitive aging affects an increasingly large proportion of the overall population.
