Animation, moving image literacy and creativity

The projects described in this chapter are examples of collaborative production work between Parkside and local primary schools. The making of these short animated films raises the question of media-specific literacies, in the sense used in Chapter 1: in this case, moving image literacy. It also raises the question of creativity, especially as they are constructed in many ways as media arts projects.

We have worked with animation in many ways: computer animation in the context of Art, literacy, Maths and ICT; stop-frame animation in Design and Technology, in Geography and in the context of after-school clubs.
