Through a professional Mexican baseball team, this chapter critiques the concept of machismo as it has been used to describe Latino masculinity. The way that Latino masculinity has been presented, both among scholars and the public, is so problematic that a brief discussion of its history must precede any more specific examination. Following this, I use data from my own work on Mexican baseball to highlight particular aspects of Latino masculinity (Klein 1995b, 1997).
