Since the late 1980s, there has been a substantial increase in interest in the roles and management of all those staff employed in schools and colleges who are not teachers or lecturers. There appear to be two main reasons for this.
First, there is the recognition that schools and colleges, as people-centred organisations with young people at the heart of their business, depend for their success upon the work and support of all the people who work in them.
