When a man and a woman are asked to write a chapter together on the subject of gender there is an implicit assumption that each has something different to offer. We, too, are aware of our differences. Although we both have strong feelings about the subject, the nature and origins of those feelings differ considerably, which is not surprising since our ways of viewing the subject, thinking about it, talking about it and experiencing it differ also.
