This chapter is about the aspect of the journey which seeks to establish the basic structure of the strategic direction that will emerge as long as the embedded procedures, structures, ways of working and thinking that currently persist within any organization are allowed to continue. It is concerned with detecting emergent strategizing (figure C2.7).
The importance of this stage of the journey is that it will reveal some of the strategic concerns which must be addressed as a part of building strategic direction.
