Leadership is a hot topic for early childhood and we advocate the use of leadership for all those who work in the field of early childhood education and care. The early childhood workforce has the potential to impact positively on the development of children and families. We have written this book to promote this potential through recognising the importance of leadership within the wide range of roles in the early childhood workforce. We use the terms ‘practitioner’ and ‘professional’ interchangeably in its chapters to identify the workers within the early childhood workforce.
