The abilities to establish and to maintain rapport are critical aspects of communicating successfully with others. Simply put, rapport is the process of building mutual liking and trust. When we have a rapport with someone, we engage naturally. We feel a sense of comfort and familiarity, we lower our barriers to resistance, and we become more receptive to the other person’s ideas.
