Destination management refers to the processes of tourism planning, managing and coordination that take place in tourist destinations, usually carried out by a destination management organisation.
Destinations are where much of the visitor's experience of a holiday takes place. It is usually the location where visitors stay and where they carry out many of their sightseeing activities. Simply put, a destination may be a seaside resort, an urban centre or a wilderness area, but destinations vary in terms of geographical and governmental scale and are therefore difficult to define.
