Chapter 11: Preventing Acquaintance Rape
Speak out! Acquaintance rape can survive only in silence.
As we have seen in earlier chapters, acquaintance rape is a serious problem. Although we can help survivors in their recovery from this trauma, we must also consider how the problem can be prevented. This chapter will focus on ways acquaintance rape may be prevented. Prevention will be discussed at three different levels: (a) at the individual level of interpersonal relationships, (b) at the group level by focusing on educational efforts, and (c) at the societal level by creating social change.
