One day my consultant asked to see my mother. He told her about an article that had just been published in The Lancet. It was about a new treatment for my condition. He recommended that I should be referred for this treatment. My mother was all for this.

A few weeks later, the consultant told my mother that there was a very long waiting list for the consultation.
