Between 1963 and 1975 I was Assistant Guider and then Guider in Charge of the 1st Tottenham Ranger Guide Unit attached to the Vale School. When I was Captain, I was determined that this unit would continue doing everything the same as all the able units. Janet, my friend who went on many holidays with me, became my Assistant Guider. It was unlike other clubs for young people with disabilities, which usually entertained their membership, rather than helping them to plan their own activities.
