When Mum turned 70 there was a noticeable change in her health. This healthy woman who had never gone to the doctor, except when she was pregnant with Margaret, suddenly became pale and lethargic. There was a noticeable loss of weight. It was suspected that she might have diabetes but all the tests proved negative until a sore appeared on her foot. A further test proved positive: she had diabetes. Within a few days however, she looked a lot better after taking insulin in tablet form.
