I wanted to go on a holiday, and I wanted to travel by car. I approached Janet who also had an invalid car. She was all for it. I suggested going to the guesthouse in Westgate-on-Sea, Kent where we once stayed with the Rangers. Janet liked my suggestion. It required a great deal of planning in order to reassure our families and ourselves that we could do it. The journey was 82 miles from home. The best option was to travel on the A2 from the Blackwall Tunnel.
