A new life

When my nephew was born I gazed on him filled with wonder and emotion. He was the youngest child I'd ever had close contact with. What would this tiny thing, so physically perfect, be like as a person? Will he be clever and handsome? What will be his career? It was very moving to realise that in this little body was everything he'd need, given by God, to live in this world.

My sister was anxious that Andrew wouldn't be born with cerebral palsy like me. She insisted on a hospital birth for her first child. She read all about pregnancy and childbirth, wanting everything to be right.
