This is a book of personal journeys. Mary Catherine Bateson, in her book Composing a Life (1989), states that we each have personal narratives that reflect “that act of creation that engages us all—the composition of our lives” (p. 1). We asked the contributors in this book to describe the composition of two aspects of their lives: the interweavings of their personal beliefs as feminists with their professional paths as academics. Their journeys are voyages of discovery, following their own visions and seeking answers to their own questions.
