Poland is a middle-income country situated in Central Europe. It is an OECD country, a member of NATO and, as of May 2004, a EU member state. As a result of its EU membership, Poland's economic and policy discussions at the national level have been somewhat distorted by an EU agenda skewed toward the more mature economies of western Europe.
