Data matrices are a way of displaying qualitative data in a format where they are readily accessible for the process of interpretation. Although the main purpose of matrices is as a way of presenting various types of data, they can also be used as part of the qualitative data analysis process. Matrices derive from the work of Miles and Huberman and their uses are outlined in detail in Qualitative Data Analysis: An Expanded Sourcebook (1994).
