Women's violence toward men is a serious social problem

The first purpose of this chapter is to review research showing that women initiate and carry out physical assaults on their partners as often as do men. A second purpose is to show that, despite the much lower probability of physical injury resulting from attacks by women, women produce a substantial percentage of all injuries and fatalities from partner violence.
