Critical Issues in Psychotherapy examines new and existing models in psychotherapy and presents them in an accessible manner to the practitioner in training through illustrative therapy cases and practitioner commentaries. There are many new models that have emerged in psychotherapy in recent years; however; they have not often been made accessible to front line practitioners.

Psychotherapy as an Instrument of Culture
In examining how psychotherapy serves as an instrument of culture, I will draw on a cultural and narrative view. The usefulness of this view is illustrated with a case that follows. Implications of this perspective are further discussed in terms of the need for cultural inquiry, issues of social control, and the therapist's role in an activity that is inherently moral in nature.
