Introduction to Change
It has become a cliché to suggest that the only constant is change and that the pace of change is accelerating. There are many changes in the external organisational environment, such as threats and opportunities relating to globalisation and to information communication technology. In addition, there are internal change programs, as outlined by Rock and Donde (2008) relating for example to re-structuring or cultural change. Organisations respond to competitive pressure with structural changes or pro-actively initiate changes in order to achieve their goals and out-perform the competition.
