Community violence (CV) is a challenge for three of the families introduced in Chapter 2. The daily stress of community violence is one of the more formidable challenges faced by the Jackson family. Sondra Jackson wanted to leave the neighborhood to protect Isaiah from violence, but that was not possible, and Isaiah became a tragic victim of neighborhood violence during his adolescence. Junito Salvatierra appears to be involved in gang activity, activity that could put him at risk for becoming either a perpetrator or victim of community violence. Kim Tran has recently been drawn into home invasion acts of community violence.
