I had ended graduate school and a sad relationship simultaneously, and soon thereafter, I landed in a new job in Boulder, Colorado. As I drove to Boulder, I wondered how I might meet gay men in places other than the bars. I have nothing against drinking or the bar scene, but I tend to think that taverns are not the healthiest of environments to reside in on a regular basis. I devised a plan. I felt somewhat silly then and still do today, when we tell friends how Barry and I met:
