We know that high quality professional learning can play a significant role in advancing student achievement. This book is aimed at school board members with a desire to deepen their understanding of professional learning as a means to improving their decision making and, ultimately, improving outcomes for educators and their students. How to Use This Book
In 2011, Learning Forward released its second revision of Standards for Professional Learning. The Standards define what constitutes effective professional development that improves educator effectiveness and student achievement. The Standards were developed in collaboration with leading national education organizations, including the National Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, National Association of Secondary School Principals, National Association of Elementary School Principals, American Association of School Administrators, and National School Boards Association.
