In recent years, more jurisdictions in the United States have legalized gambling, especially casino-style gambling, which has had an effect on connected industries and gambling-oriented mass tourism. This trend has been going on since the 1990s, and as the casino industry has grown, it has drawn tourists who are eager to experience gambling in a legal and glamorous atmosphere.

With certain exceptions, most forms of gambling other than casinos are locally based and attract few, if any, tourists.
