Austria

The Austrian tourism industry generates approximately 5.1% of the GDP (including indirect effects), making the tourism sector a vital player in the economy. Because of its economic importance and interdisciplinary orientation, the tourism industry is an indispensable generator of employment in many professional fields. This is especially true for younger people in rural areas with often-claimed locational disadvantages.
