Data collected during social science and social policy research and also policy administration represent rich and unique resources that can be reworked and reanalysed, providing opportunities for new analyses. By making data available online for reuse, new potential uses are opened up, enabling researchers to access data that they would not be able to collect themselves for a range of reasons.

This chapter introduces services that have been established to facilitate access to these rich quantitative data sources. The ease with which this is achievable has much to do with the data services providing online access to many resources.
