The American Counseling Association (ACA) is a professional organization of counselors in the United States dedicated to the growth and enhancement of counseling. The ACA has 20 chartered divisions and the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC) is one of these divisions. The divisions within ACA are specialized areas within counseling and provide leadership, information, research, and resources specific to that specialized area. IAMFC was chartered in 1989 to support professional members working with and advocating for families through prevention, education, and therapy. IAMFC’s goal is to promote excellence in the practice of couples and family counseling.
