The invited publication provides the author with the opportunity to make important contributions to the communication discipline. This form of scholarship offers considerable freedom in writing style and subject matter. Guidelines for constructing this type of publication have many parallels with developing a literature review. Yet, writing an invited manuscript can also place a considerable burden on the author’s time and self-discipline.
