Third World Press is a Chicago-based publishing house committed to publishing culturally progressive and politically insightful works of fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and works for children. It is one of the oldest and largest independent Black-owned publishing houses in the United States. Third World Press is an outlet for quality African American literature that focuses primarily on issues, themes, and criticisms pertinent to an African American public. Its humble grassroots beginnings included influences from the Black Arts movement, the Black Power movement, and the Black Panther Party.
