Nkrumahism is an ideology that grew in popularity with the African intelligentsia in North America during the second half of the 20th century. Widely propagated by the work-study circles of the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party (A-APRP), Nkrumahism sought to organize Pan-African agency, from bases in Pan-African liberated zones, into a global power. The political and economic objective of Nkrumahism is the total liberation and unification of Africa under scientific socialism. According to the ideology of Nkrumahism, this objective is of paramount importance to all Black revolutionaries. Nkrumahism offers a unifying political praxis for persons of African descent in North America who prefer Pan-African identity to their American identity as their primary identification.
