The Nation of Islam was founded in 1930. Since its inception, the organization has expressed its mission to raise the consciousness of Black people around the world through the articulation of a body of knowledge that highlights the historical greatness of the “Black Man.” The Nation of Islam continues to play a major role in the lives of Blacks in America and abroad.

The Nation of Islam had its beginning in Detroit, Michigan, in 1930. In that year, Wallace D.
