Culturally relevant pedagogy (CRP) is an academic counter to Eurocentric hegemony that non-White students face during schooling. CRP’s inception was a cry for aligning the culture of schools with the cultural realities of students of color. As a methodology of instruction, CRP includes cultural patterns common in the lives of many people of African descent. CRP also incorporates Black history in Black spaces and is facilitated by a competent teacher/healer/parent/advocate and warm demander. CRP is the art and science of teaching all students based on their own cultural context.
