Cheikh Anta Diop International Conference

The Cheikh Anta Diop International Conference encourages scholars, activists, educators, and the community to ensure that the legacies of ancient African cultures are maximized as practical tools. The conference draws on the genius and model that those cultures provide for daily cultural advancement, ethical consciousness, well-being, character building, leadership, sociopolitical stability, learning, behavior, resistance, and problem solving.


The conference was named after the late and renowned Senegalese scholar, Cheikh Anta Diop (1923–1986), because of his pivotal role in instigating a revolution in African historiography. Indeed, Diop thrust Africa to the center of his own story and made all other issues secondary.
