Theology is the analytical task that examines the foundational precepts of faith and revelation. Christian theology tends to be biblical in its orientation by identifying specific categories of belief (e.g., creation, eschatology, soteriology, hamartiology) and moral principles inspired by the Bible and the experience of Christian adherents. Black theology is a specific branch of Christian theology that incorporates the lens of Black understanding and experience to the discernment of “God-talk.” Black theology focuses on divine and human involvement in the liberation of the oppressed.
